
Report: Burundi 30-November--0001
We shot our fifth set of footage in Bujumbura, Burundi in February 2004, using six hours of tape during three days of filming.Footage collected includes:
- An interview with a campaigner from DR Congo on the mine situation in this country, exacerbated by continued fighting by armed militia;
-The first meeting between the government and rebel group CNDD-FDD, which halted hostilities in December 2003, on landmines attended by rebel leader;
-A visit by a Red Cross charter flight to then national rehabilitation center in Gitega, Burundi’s second-largest city;
-Interviews with civilian and military mine survivors recuperating in Bujumbura’s hospitals;
-Brief interviews on landmines in French, Kirundi, and Swahili, with vendors and shoppers at Burundi’s bustling central market.
